Iqra Junior School was founded in 2003 and registered in 2004. It is located in the Islamia Education Center at Quran House. Iqra Junior School is privately owned by the Islamic Circle.
Iqra Junior School is a unique organization unlike any other pre-school in the area. We are both a faith-based and an independent private school, and also a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality education at an affordable price. Our primary focus is education rather than profit. This allows us to dedicate ourselves to giving pre-school children of all backgrounds, a positive first learning experience to prepare them to be God-conscious and responsible citizens.
The syllabus is prepared by the Ministry of Education in Mauritius. The students are enrolled as from 3 years old and graduate at the age of 5 years old. Courses run from Mondays to Fridays from 9am until 2pm.
Our teachers are qualified with Proficiency in Childhood Education certificates and Teachers’ Certificates. They are all computer literate and are also certified in first aid. They are also screened by a moral certificate from the authorities. If a student cannot afford to pay for the pre-school fees, then Quran House provides scholarships for exceptional circumstances as it is part of our deep conviction that a student cannot be deprived of knowledge as a result of financial difficulties.
